The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 看的时候正好学到脑功能不全，书上那些毫无情感的描述一下子得以看见。演员演的太真实，真实到让我恐惧。虽然结局是温情的，但一想到如果生病的是自己，周围人真的会很痛苦。

题材很新颖，不以恐怖为主题的女巫电影。借女巫的几次“生命”，讲述女性的宿命。画面美得不行，故事却残酷得滴血。
6.9 很浅显直白，一旦设定了一个女性可以成为任何其他人那么接下来的安排就是变身的角色如何设定的问题，所以对变身的过程存在轻视，比如这个变身本是把身体掏出来才可以进行的为何毫无痛苦？进食的存在意义又是什么？并且进食在影片中占比还挺多，在符号和内容上，导演的平衡能力挺符合其身份的
泪崩了…太难了…前面有多体面后面就有多伤心…和父亲撑了这么久…终于女儿和丈夫回来了…一下子放心许多…看的时候总是想到自己要是患了这种病该怎么办…唉……其实挺难过剧中父亲打她那下的…看来久病床前不仅无孝子…时间长了谁都控制不了情绪，理解但悲伤而现实
她是万物，她永远在流淌。
女巫的人类体验，女人，男人，女孩，妻子，母亲，孩子的纯洁打动了女巫，也让她学会了爱，诗一般的台词很适合夜深人静的时候独自观赏。
只谈声音，想吐槽的地方太多了…既然女主是痴呆病人，前半段就没必要因为有个孩子就全部童真化，应该着重在情节的铺垫吧，却搞得跟个温馨家庭片似的。然后最重要的几个转折上，配乐完全没起到情感叠加/递进的效果，好像只是为了转场而削弱注意力。以至于女主被检查出痴呆症的时候，我耳朵整个都是懵的。噢在此之前，女主开车出了点意外那里，眩晕感（好像）就只持续了两三秒，这里视与听的冲击应该是个特别出彩的地方，就这么敷衍过去了། – _ – །剩下还有很多的就不想说了，总之就是这部电影几乎没有什么声音意识，质感也很垃。
ego爆棚的电影！真的害怕这种华而不实的演绎，会让“女性主义”和BLM一样，成为各大电影节的讨巧主题，从而忽略女性真正的现实困境。老女巫句句话都是pua的典范，小女巫看似体会了不同的“人”生，但这些人生从何而来?被她杀掉的女性不是女性？就她ego最大？有些电影，不管什么题材，哪怕情节恐怖，也能让我在人生的低谷，想要尽力抬头看缝隙里的阳光；有些电影，哪怕你看的时候，内心平和，但却越看越讨厌人类，甚至是这个世界。
7分的恐怖片想说应该不错，结果打开来是一部文艺烂俗片，我真的会谢，要么你按照正常叙事拍也行，非要用这种装逼的调性，真的做作！其实女巫去套皮体验不同人生的设定拍下去挺高级，为什么中途急转直下开始俗套人生，你这哪怕配些神神叨叨的台词，故事还不就这么回事！

两点五。诗意与诡异的结合应该更好才对，也没太多叙述，镜头都很美。
电影两次的车祸 以及结尾女儿的呼唤 都在潜移默化的将女主与父亲身份之间的切换 其实女主是在演绎父亲的角色 体验曾经父亲患失忆症的痛苦 而安圣基面无表情式的演绎实则是亡魂的一种回望 电影其实可以更不用讲明白一点 让身为主角的我 与父亲 与曾经儿时的我 能更加实现情感的递进
我的天太对我胃口了！在体验不同生命的过程中懂得痛苦和爱，好喜欢这种慢节奏的女性主义电影
