三星半；巴尔扎克名著改编，故事截取了小说的大部分内容，讲述得很流畅，镜头语言也比较丰富。演员表演、镜头运用还是体现了新时代的美学风格，比较接近好莱坞的商业大片，华丽有余、沉淀不足，原著中对印刷业和当时大的历史背景刻画在影片里基本没有体现，这也是商业作品和巴尔扎克小说的最大不同之处
