The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 电影过于平铺直叙了，拍摄手法也很单一，没有很好表现出梅艳芳的神韵和气质…人物塑造不知道为什么很单薄。很多剧情的安排很莫名其妙，什么都想要顾到的传记片看起来真的很错失重点。不过无论电影本身如何，还是要为梅艳芳喝彩，goodbye Anita!
前面还觉得有在用心呈现她的出道与巅峰，恋爱之后就落俗了，掌掴事件开始更是不知所谓。王丹妮可能很努力但没有一点刚毅和侠气，像个亦步亦趋的小学生，后半段索性连形都不似了。至于那些不能出现的人和事你说要拿来扣分呢也未必公平。

不知是否导演访问梅姐亲友搜集资料过多，整个人战战兢兢不敢取舍的样子，大牌演员也要给足露脸机会。随机穿插真人影像更是严重决策错误，在演员功力不够的情况下只会让人不停出戏好吗？不如直接剪纪录片。还好不花钱（
从影片来讲，除了时间节点，没有可以贯通全片的线索或者说叙述动机，只讲了“她做了什么”没有讲“为什么这么做”，遗憾。演员如提线木偶般被摄影机控制，没有成长线，只有工具人。
传记片时长所限 加上不少涉人涉事的关键节点无法在片中呈现 只能说乱花渐欲迷人眼；旧时街景的还原比较上心 《夕阳之歌》是最好的告别；；五集导剪版有多一些院线不方便谈的事件和张国荣更多的戏份

ppt流水賬，蜻蜓點水地回顧一生，典型的情節單薄，情深意切，但沒有具體的情節烘托輔助，再多情感都顯得空洞。麻煩主創睜眼看世界吧，傳記片拍了那麽多年不僅連1.0的傳記片《阿甘正傳》沒達到，更不用說什麼《社交網絡》《大空頭》了。

颠倒众生，吹灰不费，收你做我的迷。只有阿梅能做到，所以，她值得被所有人记得，这也会是这部电影带来的温暖、感动与影响。
电影看完还是很感动，觉得女主还是演的不错，只是把近藤给美化了，还有演张国荣的演员气质还是差了点。
遗憾。又是在不该有的年纪遇到‘可能’对的人。女主的做法是对的，女主有自己的阴影和顾虑，22岁的男主没有负担可以勇往直前，年轻真的是一笔财富啊。。PS：为什么又跟in your eyes一样，男主单身，女主不是结婚就是订婚？！故意制造遗憾真的好吗!
資料堆砌的一部電影。主角全身都在話俾我地聽，我就係演緊梅艷芳我就係在做戲，生硬地學她語氣學她姿勢背她台詞⋯⋯同埋避之不談種種真正梅姐值得尊敬的原因，也規避種種敏感⋯甚至好多人都唔講中文名⋯冇乜意思⋯不過都係賺到我眼淚，因為那些人那個時代，既懷念又唏噓⋯（睇戲時最開心是見到好多熟悉‘新’人面孔；and 好L想去紅館喔
但是女主挺好的，抓到了梅姐的倔强和落寞。就是中年后很拉垮，不如后半段让袁泉来演。

看完全片绷不住了，我的关注点已经不仅仅是演员、故事和服化道了，而是被深埋了很久的记忆再一次被打开的感动。
