The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 其实只看了半个小时吧，小泽就坐不住了。画风很八十年代，话题也比较八十年代，但其实内核还是我们该如何给孩子好的教育与爱。从放映厅出来后对小泽说：妈妈找一部好玩的动画片再带你来电影院吧。小泽说：好，这个太无聊了。😂真不知道上次他非要和哥哥一起看《失控玩家》是怎么撑下来的😂。上学的小朋友去看应该会比较喜欢吧。
北欧风强烈的恐怖片。形象设计比较赞，对生活和成长的隐喻讽刺很到位。好看的恐怖片这些元素有了就足够了。
比怪物更扭曲的是畸形的家庭关系，本质还是讲家庭，只是形式比较猎奇。另外不太喜欢小演员的演技
6/10分奇幻恐怖片,我就奇了怪了,电影已经都一心一意,真心实意,专心致志在讲母女关系了,为什么有些人非要让导演神展开讲讲那对长得跟双胞胎一样的父子线?怎么哪里都有男人的事儿?你男人能孵化还是咋的?
暗黑童话，邪恶是怎样滋生的。北欧关于内心疾病的片实在很多，这部也够恶心的
小成本恐怖，孵化魔的设定其实还挺有意思的，不过通篇节奏冗长，结尾部分又收的突然，更适合拍成20～30分钟的短剧。
除了润出去的华人家庭，原来北欧的亲子关系也这么紧张啊，大家压力都挺大。

奇幻中又带有一点清新，电影从一个鸟人生物的诞生，衬托了女孩的另一面，又反映出一个家庭教育的理念。
女儿被杀死的是软弱内向，留下来的是黑暗恶毒不择手段，什么样的母亲什么样的孩子，一家人就该整整齐齐
家庭伦理隐喻，控制欲带来的灾难，最后小女孩的血复活了鸟人替代了自己也算圆满
北欧近来很多这种恐怖片，好像在说，我知道我们社会好福利好幸福指数高，但是我腻了。
a twisted family但很喜欢结局，妈妈的小女孩变成不会累的孩子，真的是东亚family issues照进欧洲。女孩和鸟的bonding moment看出到了年初羊惧的影子，鸟越发变成人形，女孩的家庭压抑情绪到达顶点。
真的不得不佩服女主的心理承受能力！

【芬兰】试着将亲情关系的畸变、社交文化的病态展示以及成长难题（甚至就是体操为代表的运动疯狂）等很为在剧情片里常见的戏剧性元素，完全打包成一个类型化的故事；它提供像《异形》的“黏糊”或者观感上的恐怖，更不吝渲染那种在完美幻象之下被改变和挑战的扭曲心态。只是始终知道它每个步骤和元素在象征什么，就会失去未知的趣味，观影进程全然按部就班；亮点是挑战两角的小女主，太会演。
女主跟鸟人两体一心。苛刻的老母，我就知道会出事。所以为什么家里这么大个鸟人，怎么会不被发现？国内这种绝不可能发生。女主鸟人痛感相同。故事最后，女主为了保护鸟人挡刀，鸟人因为同样相貌成为新的女儿。
