The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 几乎每一帧都在我的审美点上——那仿佛出自《千里江上图》的山水场景，《清明上河图》的市井生活，生旦净末丑行当的人物，把“中国版普罗米修斯”盗书至人间的故事搬至大银幕。然而袁公的结局“戛然而止”，期待出续集。
袁公被抓走时对蛋生说“你要好自为之啊”，在修复版看到片尾剧本文字描述场景:白云弥漫，天地苍苍。非常震撼，很正统的中国美。
这是中国动画中的又一部里程碑似的、绝对顶级的、足以彪炳史册的伟大作品，从故事情节的编排到人物造型与性格的设计再到动画技术的运用都堪称无以伦比，它虽然没有《大闹天宫》《哪吒闹海》在国际上那么知名，但我相信不少人还是会在自己心中将其列为中国动画的第一，因为《天书奇谭》绝对有这个实力。
中国动漫走了这么多年，还是要靠老一辈的工匠精神来打鸡血！不知是喜悦还是悲哀？！
真正的民族电影，从造型、布景到音乐、故事，太多可以考究的了。
人物造型借鉴了传统文化中戏曲（三只狐狸精、县令）、年画（蛋生）、玩偶（小皇帝）等艺术元素，汇集了众多民俗意象与活动（踩高跷、舞龙舞狮），背景音乐采用大量传统民乐，背景画面中天庭、山水、乡间、寺庙、县城、府宅、皇宫等场景，用工笔重彩绘制人文景观，用淡雅水墨绘制自然景观，传统文化浓度极高。
