The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 一开始感觉一般，看着看着感觉还蛮喜欢这个片子的。
王朔实在是太过文字自恋，话密到角色说不完的要让旁边来说。影片中段的剧情走向走太偏了，让观众直接失去了对男女主人公命运的关切，不过王珞丹和王传君真是演得好啊。
感觉两个小时的片子像两个导演拍的，前一个小时质感很好，剧情和智商人物逻辑都在四星的线，后一半像拍到一半没有经费了开始拉干细胞企业的经费成了大型干细胞广告，剧情和人物关系往无厘头的方向发展一直拉垮到收尾。换个名字和剪掉中间大幅讲干细胞的部分其实会是一部质感很好的作品。有点可惜。
垃圾剪辑，你搁这乱切啥呀，很明显这是文艺片，需要的是情绪，情绪，情绪；不是镜头数量！！！
剧情太散太乱了，人物动机让人摸不着头脑，借由去布拉格研究干细胞的外衣让男女的强行分离，又强行加入另一段感情，但是又没有爱情，更像是为了拍男主研究干细胞的不易，并且研究成功了，成“不老奇事”了？男女主的相遇相识更像是朋友之间的友谊，谈什么青梅竹马。女二号更是神经大条，又为啥爱上了男主？男主为啥去了一趟非洲，还差点死在那？女主的孩子又是怎么怀上的啊？
一开始感觉一般，看着看着感觉还蛮喜欢这个片子的。
还是那个王朔，至死相信纯粹的爱情，但最真挚的俩人永远不能在一起，只能随着命运沉浮，表面投降但永远不背叛内心。表面看王老是王朔，但内心住着郭小鲁。虽然小文艺已经看不懂老王朔，但好在我中学时读的死去活来的那个王朔还在，而且对生死有了更柔软绵密的思考，依然透着感性和单纯。
影片散发出的气息是相当喜欢的，但章节之间比较割裂，明明有好几十年时间跨度了，时光的沧桑感却没有扑面而来，只是可以用大量缓慢的旁白和发黄的滤镜来渲染，氛围营造欠一些，这种不到位的感觉影响了整部片子的感情，有点可惜
喜欢电影的节奏，喜欢演员的表达，喜欢孤独的旁白，喜欢王朔的语言。
特别好！这不是爱情电影，应该是一部人生告别电影
郭是个随波逐流的人，在漫长的人生长河中遇到了两个闪烁光芒的灯塔，一个人用小提琴点亮了他的童年，也杀死了他对美好未来的憧憬，一个是丁萌萌。这个极其先锋的人物因为恐惧死亡而走向了死亡，却让郭不再畏惧生死。很可惜小鲁到萌萌的最后一刻才真正爱上她吧。影片的结尾很有意思，我相信这是苏的幻想，弥补过去的一切遗憾。而郭可能再他人生中的某一个阶段已经走了，可能非洲，可能和萌萌一样死去。王珞丹是我非常喜欢的演员，可是总让我感觉非常出戏。导演想一本正经的搞笑，但没有处理好让这部剧low了许多。

看剧本的时候觉得有可能拍不出这种气质，最后成片质感还可以。个人觉得已经是不错了。

眼看着28岁了 ，我还单身，工作还没定 ，前路在何处，茫然失措。
一般。布置了过多莫名其妙的情节和故意煽情的演绎。为什么要加入男主妈妈被冰雹砸歪眼的荒唐，还有动态视觉能慢速观察一切来袭却不断摔跤？感觉都是莫名其妙为了增加特殊感的人设。外科医生莫名就深造去搞干细胞研究了，这是同一个科研方向吗？寒窗苦读的研究者么会不会觉得太容易了？既然是为了女主研究干细胞为什么自己不老了之后就独享了？莫名其妙女主去男主过去研究室还发现了一个受精卵自己代孕生下来……唯有结局处五月天式关于回忆不老的解读，让人如鲠在喉。 这个故事倒是让我想起了自己小时候想学医让人不会死亡的梦想，可惜，渐行渐远了。
近几年的院线片好像都很喜欢从年代陈设里找故事的厚度，不管是音乐、布景、旧世纪的文化和事件。好像不这样做就讲不好故事一样，这一部也是，非要弄这么大跨度的故事，到后半段不知所云，观众只好说“这些都是人物的幻觉”来为文本的漏洞补全。
1.王珞丹好像从《北辙南辕》里无缝走进了这个世界。
