The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 感谢李小龙，李小龙就是世界范围内影响力最大成就最杰出的华人，咏春拳几乎就是中国功夫的代名词了。欧美社会里的华人的刻板印象也都很实在而且不冒犯很好笑。
不确定《王子复仇记》在大银幕上的这么多次改编是否是可取的，但剧情确实亮点不多，算是及格的史诗片吧。与导演的前作相比实在过于平庸，这部整的过于商业化了。我感觉北欧神话元素还是少（可能是制片方给剪坏的？），以及皇后那一条故事线没有展开，很可惜。
导演执迷于蛮荒孤岛中的各种仪式，静谧的残暴的恶毒的，再加上冷峻的风光，讲述了一个被演绎过无数次的复仇故事，视听上非常有快感，值得好好学习

风格相当讨喜，但是一个压抑的复仇故事，前面节奏还挺好，后面已经完全没有power了。

【7.5】一如既往地被罗伯特的视听美感俘获，每一个直视前方的眼神镜头无不呼唤着人的深层恐惧。好理解的是一脉相承的家族信仰、为父报仇等陈词滥调，主线剧情真就如简介里写的一样简单，让人掉san的主要是古老文明中的人类迷惑行为，一种不可言说的神秘感。不敢相信它的分类居然没有恐怖和奇幻...（我对迷人的风格化片子接受度超高）
剧情太傻了，人物太假了，两个彩蛋之间隔的时间太长了，梁朝伟老了，接班人到底去哪了？

全片最赞的场面居然是开头攻城时的长镜头，既然已经如此风格化处理了，其实不如再大胆一些，干脆做成下一个《斯巴达三百勇士》。
故事复制莎士比亚的王子复仇记。阴郁的色调很用功。电影音乐也很亮。140分钟很冗长，减掉40分钟完全不影响剧情，或许能更加干练。我认为电影是拍给现代人看的，要共他们的情。
是那种不在大银幕看会逊色很多的电影。可与《沙丘》《新蝙蝠侠》组成复仇全家捅
天才导演 还是艾格斯一以贯之的作者表达。有毒男性气质的由来，是因为毒蘑菇一般的神秘仪式的代代传承，导演把它藏在民俗宗教和神话故事的壳子里，藏好，藏好。
大量的中文对白，相当多的中国元素，文戏武戏的比例，几场动作戏的创意，节奏等都完成的不错，很有诚意的尝试，非常希望能在内地顺利上映啊，让更多人至少看过后再去评价
3.5形式大于内容，但在电影院看得很满足。
打斗场面堪比宗族械斗，这部可以和花木兰并称卧龙凤雏。
3.5，即便失去了前两部足够多的结构空间，依然能在一部主流大制作的传统故事中注入作者性和足够多的亮点，总体来说是惊喜的。
